COTTON

Cotton refers to a part of the cotton plant where the fluffy cotton fibers, the boll, grow. The boll is the seedpod of the cotton plant and grows to about the size of a golf ball. After the cotton plant blooms, the boll begins to grow. Each boll contains approximately 7 or 8 seeds, to which the cotton fibers, resembling seed hairs, are attached. Each seed can contain up to 20,000 fibers, meaning there are as many as 150,000 fibers in each boll. These bolls are harvested, cleaned, and spun into yarn before being woven into the soft, durable fabric we know. Cotton is cultivated in over 80 countries worldwide. Cotton is a natural plant-based material, soft and fluffy.

PERCALE WEAVE

Cotton refers to the type of fiber, percale describes the type of weave. The type of weave that results from weaving one thread over and one thread under, resulting in a tight, closely woven fabric with a matte finish. The weave pattern creates a smooth, cool texture that feels fresh and comfortable on the skin. Cotton percale is made from high-quality cotton fibers, making it durable. Ideal for warm sleepers.

SATIN WEAVE

Satin fabric has a shiny finish. The fabric is created by weaving four threads over and one thread under, resulting in a very smooth and silky texture. Satin fabric is less breathable than percale, but feels softer and more luxurious. Less suitable for people who get warm quickly.

Difference between cotton percale and cotton satin

Both have their unique advantages. Percale sheets are known for their fresh and cool feel, while satin sheets have a silky smooth and shiny surface. It all depends on your personal preference. When it comes to durability, percale is often considered the better choice due to its tight weave pattern. They are less likely to pill or tear over time. Satin sheets may be more susceptible to pilling and the sheen may fade over time. Cotton percale sheets will wrinkle more than cotton satin. Cotton satin is easier to wash and dry than percale and is recommended for sleepers with sensitive skin.

JERSEY KNIT

Jersey knit is a soft, stretchy fabric made by knitting cotton fibers together. This creates a fabric that is comfortable and breathable. Unlike other knitted fabrics, jersey does not unravel easily when cut because a single long thread is used. Because it is knitted, the fabric does not wrinkle.

FLANNEL

Flannel is a soft, fluffy fabric that is often brushed on one or both sides to create a fuzzy texture. It is usually made from cotton or wool fibers and is often used for winter bedding due to its warmth.

LINEN

The rich natural product linen is our favorite. The natural look creates ambiance in any space. It is organically grown, requiring no pesticides or fertilizers during processing and no waste is produced during production. Additionally, it also requires less water than cotton. It is a very strong and durable material, lasting for many years. It is a lightweight material that is highly absorbent and dries quickly. Therefore, linen is the best choice for warm sleepers. The natural material linen has even more benefits. It is naturally hypoallergenic, making it suitable for people with allergies or sensitive skin. Linen also has thermo-regulating properties, meaning it feels cool in warm environments and retains heat in colder conditions. Additionally, linen usually becomes softer with use and washing, providing a comfortable feel. Moreover, linen is biodegradable, contributing to environmentally friendly choices. Our linen is carefully selected in France and further processed into finished products in Portugal.
